Even though Outlook is one of the most used calendar apps among individuals and businesses, offering plenty of features, sometimes it stops syncing. You create a meeting on your phone, and it doesn’t show up on your laptop.

If your Outlook Calendar suddenly stopped syncing, you need to read this article. Let’s go over how to fix Outlook Calendar not syncing, so your schedule is synced across all your calendars.

How to fix Google Calendar not syncing with Outlook Calendar

If you’ve shared a Google Calendar with an Outlook Calendar, updates in Google Calendar take up to 24 hours to reflect in Outlook Calendar.

There are 2 ways to fix the Google Calendar not syncing with Outlook Calendar:

1. Use a Calendar Sync Tool

Google Calendar not syncing with Outlook is not fixable by switching any settings in Google Calendar or Outlook. The only way to fix Google Calendar not syncing with Outlook Calendar is through the use of a Calendar Sync tool. Calendar Sync Tools use the official Outlook and Google Calendar API to automatically sync calendars.

Using a Calendar Sync Tool you won’t have to troubleshoot why your Google Calendar is not syncing with Outlook, or manually sync them.

Check out our article on The Best Calendar Sync Tools to find out a comparison of the best calendar sync tools in the market.

2. Manually sync Google Calendar and Outlook:

The second method of fixing Google Calendar not syncing with Outlook is to manually sync Google Calendar to Outlook by exporting the Google Calendar and importing it into Outlook.

The downside of this method is that it takes up to 24 hours for events created or updated in Google Calendar to be reflected in Outlook.

To manually sync a Google Calendar from Outlook, you should first remove it from Outlook.

To remove a Google Calendar from Outlook, follow these steps:

  1. Open Outlook Calendar: You can open Outlook Calendar on the web by following this URL: https://outlook.live.com/calendar

  2. Find the "My Calendars" section: The My Calendars section is located on the left sidebar of the app.

  3. Find the Outlook Calendar you want to remove: All the calendars you’ve connected to Outlook Calendar are located below the My Calendars section in Step 2.
  4. Hover over the Calendar and click the three dots.

After removing the Google Calendar from Outlook, you should manually add the Google Calendar again. We wrote an article explaining in detail how to manually sync Google Calendar with Outlook, so please read that for the rest of the steps.

How to fix Outlook Calendar sync issues on the web app

1. Make sure the calendar is visible (checked)

Sometimes Outlook syncs the events correctly, but the Calendar is hidden.

  1. Open Outlook Calendar: You can open Outlook Calendar on the web by following this URL: https://outlook.live.com/calendar
    Outlook Calendar Home
  2. Find the "My Calendars" section: The My Calendars section is located on the left sidebar of the app.

2. Remove and connect the calendar again

The second way to get Outlook Calendar to start syncing is to Remove the calendar and connect it again.

Regardless of the type of calendar provider you’ve connected to Google Calendar (Outlook, iCloud, or another Google Calendar), the first step is to remove it from Google Calendar. To do so, follow the same steps as the "Manually sync Google Calendar to Outlook" section above.

The second part is to reconnect the calendar to Outlook again. Connecting the Calendar again depends on the type of Calendar Provider you want to sync to Outlook.

Reconnecting the Calendar to Outlook only works if the calendar you’ve imported into Outlook is another Outlook Calendar. For iCloud and Google Calendars, the issue will persist, as calendar updates will take up to 24 hours to reflect in Outlook Calendar. To permanently fix this issue, a third-party calendar sync tool is needed.

  1. Launch the Settings app.

    iOS - Settings app
  2. Click "General".

Make sure you have at least more than 5GB in your device in order for new events to be stored.

If this doesn’t work, the only way to make it work is to use a third-party calendar automation tool like OneCal.

How to fix Outlook Calendar sync issues on Android

1. Make sure the Calendar is visible

Google Calendar may be working correctly, you’ve just not selected the calendar.

To make sure you’ve made the calendar visible on Google Calendar on your Android device, follow these steps:

  1. Open Outlook Calendar

2. Make sure you have enough storage

Outlook Calendar might be working correctly, but the reason might be that there is not enough space on your Android device.

To make sure that your Android device has enough space for your Outlook Calendar to sync, please follow these steps:

  1. Open "Settings": Tap the "Settings" app on your Android device. This is usually represented by a gear icon.
  2. Go to "Storage": Scroll down in the Settings menu until you find "Storage" or "Storage & Memory". This option may vary slightly depending on your Android version and device manufacturer.
  3. View Storage Details: Tap on "Storage". Here, you will see a breakdown of how much storage is being used and what is using it (like apps, photos, videos, etc.). You'll also see the total storage capacity of your device and the amount of free space available.

Please note that the exact wording and layout can vary depending on your device's make, model, and Android version, but these steps should guide you in the right direction.

If you have less than 5GB of free storage, please make sure to delete unnecessary data, images, videos, or apps you no longer use.

3. Delete Outlook Calendar data

If none of the steps above work, the last resort is to delete all Outlook Calendar data. This will delete all your Outlook Calendar data, including login details, preferences, and settings.

  1. Open Settings: Tap on the "Settings" app on your Android device.
  2. Navigate to Apps: Look for a section named "Apps," "Apps & Notifications," or something similar. The exact name can vary depending on your device's make and Android version.
  3. Select the App: In the list of apps, find and tap on Outlook Calendar. You may need to tap on "See all apps" or "App info" to view all installed apps.
  4. Go to "Storage & Cache": Inside the app's information page, find the "Storage & Cache" or simply "Storage" option.
  5. Tap "Clear Data": Tap on "Clear Data" or "Clear Storage." You might see a warning message stating that all of the app's data will be permanently deleted. Confirm if you're sure you want to proceed
