Although a Samsung phone uses Android as the operating system, it has a custom default calendar app, and the steps to sync Google Calendar to Samsung are slightly different.

In this article, we’ll discuss how to sync Google Calendar with Samsung, the downfalls of using each method, and our suggestions for minimizing those downfalls.

How to Sync Google Calendar with Samsung Using the Google Calendar App

The first method of syncing Google Calendar with Samsung is by using the Google Calendar app for Android, available on the Play Store.

To sync Google Calendar with your Samsung phone using the Google Calendar app, please follow these steps:

  1. Download the “Google Calendar” App on Play Store: Open the Play Store on your phone. Search for "Google Calendar" and tap "Download" to install the app. If you have already downloaded your Google Calendar, just open the app.

Download the Google Calendar App on Play Store
  2. Sign In to the Google Calendar app: Log in using your Google account credentials (your email and password). This screen is provided by Google Calendar, so don’t worry about the security of your credentials, as they’re safely handled by Google.

Sign In to the Google Calendar app
  3. Select Your Calendar: You can now select which calendar you want to display on the Google Calendar app. After that, a notification will appear asking whether you want to allow contacts and notifications to appear in your Calendar.

  4. Access Settings: In the app, go to the settings menu to adjust your preferences.

  5. Configure Sync Settings: To keep your calendar up-to-date, set up which Google calendars to sync and how you want to receive notifications.

  3. Access the More Options Menu: In the Samsung Calendar App app, look to the upper-right corner of the screen for the "More" icon, which may appear as three vertical dots. Tap on this icon to reveal additional options.

    Access the More Options Menu
  4. Navigate to Calendar Management: From the dropdown menu, select "Manage calendars" or simply "Calendars." This option allows you to manage and add different calendar accounts to your Samsung Calendar App.

  5. Add a New Account: In the Manage Calendars section, look for the "Add Account" option. Tap on it to add a new calendar account to your device.

    Add a New Account

Sync Google Calendar with Samsung Using a Third-Party Calendar App

Managing multiple Google calendars (or even Google and Outlook calendars) can be challenging and often leads to double bookings and confusion. For example, if you have a Google Calendar for work and a personal Google Calendar, coworkers won’t see when you’re busy if those slots are on your Google Calendar.

A third-party app like OneCal can solve this problem by syncing your calendars. OneCal supports both one-way and multi-way sync directions. With one-way sync, events are copied from one calendar to another.

Multi-way sync allows calendars to mirror each other, ensuring updates are shared between both calendars, whether you have multiple Google calendars or Outlook and Google calendars.

Once linked with OneCal, your calendars stay in sync in real-time. You only need to set it up once, and it will automatically update all calendars without conflicts.

You can enjoy other advanced features like OneCal’s unified Calendar View, where you see multiple Outlook and Google calendars in one place, avoiding the need to log in separately to each. You can also hide duplicate events, making your calendar clearer.

Last, OneCal is user-friendly, allowing you to adjust settings, navigate through different time periods, and manage calendars on the go on your Android or iPhone. This makes handling multiple calendars simple and efficient, preventing missed appointments or double bookings.
